COVID-19 Update

The Law Office of Will Mitchell continues to closely monitoring Local, County, and State agencies for updates on area court proceedings and closures. Our first priority is your health and safety and that of our families.  We will do everything possible to limit travel or appearances in person in accordance with orders from our State government, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and Texas Supreme Court. 

Current clients will receive messages from our office notifying of any current changes. As always, please feel free to contact the office if you are confused or have any questions.

Courts have begun the initial stages of reopening but these procedures look very different than what was once customary.  Courts are now encouraging prosecutors and defense attorneys to confer via telephone/email and provide updates to the Judge in order to reset cases.  However, there are still no in-person settings in most counties in accordance with the Office of Court Administration guidelines and orders from the Texas Supreme Court.  Pleas are being done remotely via ZOOM or “in abstentia”.  Grand juries are still not meeting limiting the number of indictments on new felony cases.  This is a gradual process as officials monitor the pandemic.  As it slows, things will ramp up, if it continues to rise, then the possibility for another shutdown remains. **NOTE: Jury Settings have been cancelled in all counties until August at the soonest.  Current clients set for Jury Trial will be contacted directly by attorney Will Mitchell .
